Ivermectin + Clorsulon Injection is an anthelmintic combination drug used to treat a wide range of internal and external parasites in cows, camels, goats and sheep. It is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal roundworms, sucking lice, mange mites, lungworms, liver flukes, cattle grubs, oestrosis, and scabies.

The combination of ivermectin and clorsulon acts as an effective antiparasitic agent. Ivermectin is classified in the family of drugs called anthelmintics. It works by inhibiting the function of aspects of the nervous system within the parasite. This leads to its paralysis and then the death of the parasite.

Clorsulon belongs to the family of medicines known as benzenesulfonamides. Drugs within this category specifically target flukes.

Precautions

Do NOT use Ivermectin + Clorsulon Injection for an animal that:

  • has a known allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
  • is a foal less than 4 months old or a puppy less than 6 weeks old.
  • is of the following species: chelonian, Indigo snake, and skink.

Treatment with this drug should be administered with caution if an animal: • is susceptible to the ABCB1-1∆ (MDR1-allele) mutation.

There are known interactions between this medication and other drugs, including benzodiazepines, ketamine, spinosad, amiodarone, carvedilol, clarithromycin, cyclosporine, and ketoconazole.

This drug may cause false-negative results for animals with an occult heartworm infection.

Only use a subcutaneous injection for cattle. Do not administer Ivermectin Injections through the IV or IM route.

Dosage
