Precautions
Do NOT use Alendronate Sodium Tablets if:
- You are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
- You are allergic to any other bisphosphonate.

- difficult standing or sitting upright for 30 minutes

What is Alendronate Sodium used for?
It’s used to treat or prevent osteoporosis.
How are Alendronate Sodium Tablets used?
This medication has been manufactured to be taken orally. It should be taken before the first meal or beverage of the day. It should be taken with a full glass of water. It is best to stay upright for at least 30 minutes. This medication only works if taken on an empty stomach.
What dose should be taken?
The usual dose for adults is 5mg, taken once per day. In postmenopausal women (not taking estrogen), the usual dose is 10mg per day.
For Paget’s disease of the bone, the usual dose is 40mg, taken once per day. The duration for treatment is 6 months.
For the treatment of osteoporosis in men or postmenopausal osteoporosis in women, the usual dose is 10mg once per day or 70mg once per week.
For the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis, the usual dose is 5mg per day or 35mg once per week.
Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Alendronate Sodium Tablets.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to gastrointestinal effects (constipation, diarrhea, gas, etc.)
