Amoxicillin sodium + sulbactam sodium can be used as a parenteral alternative to amoxicillin + clavulanic acid. This form of amoxicillin sodium + sulbactam sodium has been manufactured as a powder for reconstitution. It is intended to be mixed into its injectable form and then administered by a veterinary doctor or animal care specialist. This medicine will not work for viral infections.
Together, this combination of compounds displays a wide range of bactericidal action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Amoxicillin is a moderate-spectrum, beta-lactam antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It works by killing bacteria, which prevents growth. Sulbactam sodium is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It works to prevent the action of beta-lactamase, which destroys antibiotics like amoxicillin.
